Five Saints earn NJCAA academic honors

A record 41 student athletes earn state and/or conference honors.
The 2014-15 school year was a banner one for Santa Fe College athletics on the fields and court, but especially in the classroom. A record 41 student athletes earned honors for their work in the class room, and five were given the highest honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association, three of them coming from the women's basketball team.
Earning the NJCAA Student Athlete Superior Academic Award (3.80-3.99 GPA) was softball player Jessica Castiglione, and women's basketball player Briana Maxwell. Baseball player Cole Parks, and women's basketball players Deja McPhee and Litisha Speights were honored with the Exemplary Academic Achievement Award (3.60-3.79 GPA).
Twenty-nine student athletes earned Florida College System Activities Association academic honors (including the five above): softball players Keysha Gordon and Dallas Hull; baseball players Matt Allen, Walker Burgess, Max Geller, Nick Horvath, Bryan Neal, Michael Ray, Daniel Wentworth, and Jared Shouppe; Men's basketball players Allen Baez and Connor Westall; Women's basketball players Sonya Franklin, Denae James, Karrah Johnson, Taylor Payne, and Brianca Roberts; Volleyball players Ann-Lorrayne Bzoch, Jane Early, Julie Fuchs, Emili Jordan, Sara Lounsbury, Farah Rajaee, and Haley Walker.
Thirty Eight student athletes earned Mid-Florida Conference academic honors, including most of the names above, and: softball players Caitlan Fuller, Brashell Keys, Kayla Taylor, and Brashella Keys; baseball players Tyler Kinney and Evan Barnes; men's basketball player Devin Pryor; women's basketball player Tanesha Campbell; and volleyball player Chelsea Dola.
