Santa Fe College Named Number One Community College in the Nation

Santa Fe College is the winner of the 2015 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence and moves up to the top spot as the number one community college in the nation.

"Acceptance of the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence brings with it the understanding that it recognizes every community college in this country," said Santa Fe College President Dr. Jackson N. Sasser. "Santa Fe College is proud to share the award with the students, employees and trustees of all community colleges in our country."

Sasser joined Dr. Jill Biden, Second Lady of the United States along with other representatives at the National Press Club in Washington, DC for the announcement. The program was also broadcast live on the Web.

"These [finalist] schools are reinventing what it means to be the community's college," Biden said prior to the announcement. "The Aspen Prize highlights the best of the best."

During her recent visit to Santa Fe College, Dr. Biden told students that they are "in the right place at the right time" because of the support SF offers toward success.

"To the students at Santa Fe College, this is your award. You did the work," Sasser said.
