FSC-J Holds on against the Saints

Jacksonville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints fought to the bitter end, but the Blue Wave were too much down the stretch, holding on for an 83-72 win over SF in Jacksonville Wednesday night in both teams Mid-Florida Conference opener.
Santa Fe trailed by 15 at the half after mustering just 27 points, but played much better in the second period, outscoring FSC-J 45-41 over the final 20 minutes. The Saints (9-7, 0-1 MFC) made things interesting at the end, but the Blue Wave (14-4, 1-0 MFC) held the lead and picked up the big victory.
Karrah Johnson had her best game as a Saint, finishing with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Deja McPhee also finished with 17 and 10, Kayla Lovett had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Sonya Franklin had 12 points and five assists. Tatiana Manuel led SF with 12 rebounds.
Amber Jones led FSC-J with 16 points and 16 rebounds.
The Saints will return home for an MFC game against rivals College of Central Florida on Saturday, January 10 at 2:00 PM.
