SF's Morris Marshall inks with University of Wyoming

November 24, 2014

Santa Fe sophomore Morris Marshall made his four year college choice on Wednesday afternoon before the IMG game, signing a National Letter of Intent with the University of Wyoming, and Coach Larry Shyatt.  Shyatt is familiar with the Gainesville area and Santa Fe College, having coached as an assistant at the University of Florida from 2004-2011 under Billy Donovan.

"Both of Morris' coaches Chris [Mowry] and Carlos [Villalobos] are longtime friends, so I have the utmost respect for the coaching and mentoring that Morris has received over the last year," UW head coach Larry Shyatt said. "Morris is a young man who was an NCAA qualifier out of high school, but decided to take advantage of two years at a junior college to grow and develop."

As a sophomore at Santa Fe, Marshall is averaging 18 points, 3.3 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per contest.  He is shooting 42.5% from the field and 40% from behind the three point line.

During his freshman year at SF, he scored 10.4 points per game and pulled down 4.1 boards.  Over conference play he upped his output, scoring at a 13.2 ppg clip.

UW assistant coach Allen Edwards on Marshall: "Morris has a really good basketball IQ. He knows the game and will add to our ability to make shots on the perimeter. On the other end, he can defend multiple positions. Being a junior college player, he will bring more maturity and help balance out our classes when we lose six seniors to graduation."

Marshall will have two years of playing eligibility at Wyoming.
