Lovett and the Lady Saints get a big road win over Tallahassee

The Saints Fe Saints trailed by double digits in the first half of their matchup with Tallahassee CC on Tuesday night, but showed perseverance and grit, fighting back to pick up a 70-65 victory over the previously undefeated Eagles.  Kayla Lovett led five Saints in double figures with 15 points, and seven rebounds.

SF (5-2) started the game slowly, trailing 18-8 five minutes into the game.  Just when it looked like the Eagles may pull away, the Saints began to chip away at the deficit and cut it to 40-35 at the halftime break.

Santa Fe turned up the defensive pressure in the second half and held TCC to 25 points and stayed consistent on offense, scoring another 35 points for the five point victory.

The Saints shot an efficient 19-for-46 from the field and with stood the barrage from TCC (5-1), holding the Eagles to 22-for-85 from the field, and 6-for-36 from the three point line.

The big difference in the game came at the free throw line where SF outscored the Eagles 31-15, despite making just 58% of their attempts.

Joining Lovett in double figures were Deja McPhee (12 pts, 9 reb), Sonya Franklin (12 pts, 6 reb), Ashley Perry (10 pts, 5 reb), and Tatiana Manuel (10 pts, 6 reb, 6 blocks).

Santa Fe will stay on the road on Saturday when they travel to Miami Dade College for a game at 4 p.m.
