Zoorific time at the 20th Annual Boo at the Zoo
November 6, 2014
The staff and students from the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo would like to thank the 5,005 supporters that participated in the 20 Annual Boo at the Zoo. In addition, two charities, Santa Fe Harvest and Catholic Charities, were able to benefit from the 4,725 canned goods that were collected to help feed families in need from our community.
The staff cut loose to an 80's theme while families encountered 16 different candy stations that followed the trails in the zoo. The children were treated with their favorite characters like Winnie the Pooh, Frozen, Cinderella, The Flintstones, Super Mario Bros., a Cowboy Ghost Town, Cloudy with Chance of Meatballs, Shrek, Lego the Movie, Day of the Dead, Haunted Mansion, Hotel Transylvania, Smurfs, the Jungle Book, the Land of the Fairies, and Scooby Doo.
In addition, guests enjoyed Domino's Pizza and entertainment from Danscompany of Gainesville. Danscompany performed "Thriller" on the lawn in front of the zoo.
Fourteen departments on campus participated in a pumpkin carving contest. The students chose the winners as the Media Studio from P-136 and Krista Froiseth from Student Life. The winners will be treated to a scheduled meet-and-greet with the zoo's Galapagos tortoises.
Again, we appreciate all those that participated and donated towards this great event for the community.
