Chapman and Hoeft Sign with Thomas University

Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe sophomores Ashley Chapman and Rachel Hoeft recently made their decision on where to continue their playing career, signing with Thomas University, an NAIA institution in Thomasville, GA.

The Nighthawks are coached by Bill Wilson and finished the 2014 season with a 22-25 overall record and an 8-8 mark in The Sun Conference.

Hoeft, one of the Saints most consistent hitters in her two years at Santa Fe, finished her sophomore year with a .335 batting average, and team highs in doubles (15) and RBI (34).  She played primarily first base as a sophomore, but showed her versatility as a freshman, playing third for a good portion of the season.  As a freshman she hit .306 with 31 RBI.

Chapman tossed 55 innings from the circle as a sophomore, finishing with a 3.31 ERA and 32 strikeouts.  Her freshman year she threw 99.2 innings and had a 3.09 ERA with 62 K's.  She had 33 at bats in 2014 and hit .273 with three RBI.

Both Hoeft and Chapman will have two years of eligibility at Thomas.
