Gainesville, FL – The 2014 Mid-Florida Conference champion Santa Fe Saints (34-21, 19-5 MFC) ended the regular season on a positive note, taking two games from Hillsborough CC as 13 sophomores played their final home game at SF.

Santa Fe pounded out 15 hits in a 7-1 game one victory, giving starting pitcher Maddy Peres (15-8) more than enough support.  HCC took a 1-0 lead after one innings, but the Saints bounced back with one in the second, one in the third, and three in the fourth, led by a solo homer from Geena Capitini.  SF added two insurance runs in the sixth inning for the 7-1 win.

Capitini finished the game 4-for-4 with a homerun, two doubles and three RBI, Sid Masso was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and a double, Celeste Bradshaw finished 3-for-4, and Rachel Hoeft was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In game two, Ashley Chapman (5-3) and Amber Maxey combined to toss a one hitter as Santa Fe cruised 5-0.  Chapman threw the first four innings to earn the win and Maxey picked up the save with three hitless frames.

Sid Masso finished game two 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Megan McDonald was 2-for-2, and Rachel Hoeft was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.

The Saints will now have a few days to prepare for the FCSAA State Tournament in Pensacola on May 2-4.  The first game for SF will be against a familiar opponent in Lake Sumter State College.  The Saints and Lakehawks met four times this season in MFC play, with Santa Fe taking three of the four games.  The first round game will take place on Friday, May 2 at 12:00 PM CST.  Full information on the tournament can be found here.
