Fastpitch Drops Two to Chipola, 2-0 and 7-6

Gainesville, FL – The 2014 Mid-Florida Conference champion Santa Fe Saints (32-21, 19-5 MFC) dropped two games on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Chipola College Indians 2-1 and 7-6 in non-conference action.

Chipola's Jessica Elliot scattered three hits and struck out six Saints to pick up the shutout win in game one, running her strikeout total on the season to 219.  Maddy Peres (14-8) took the loss for Santa Fe.

In game two the Saints jumped out to a 6-0 lead after a six run second inning.  Santa Fe score those six runs on five hits and one Chipole error.  Megan McDonald and Rachel Hoeft each drove in runs in the frame.

The wheels came off in the sixth for SF as the Indians scored three runs to cut the margin to 6-4.  In the seventh Chipola put three more runs on the board for the 7-6 lead.  CC reliever Roseanne De Vries put the Saints down in order in the seventh to earn the win.  SF reliever Kalsey Jefferson took the loss.

The Saints will finish up the regular season at home on Sunday, April 27 against Hillsborough CC at 1:00 PM in double header action.
