SF FASTPITCH

Sanford, FL – For the third time this season, Maddy Peres and Amber Maxey paired up to throw complete game shutouts, this time against Seminole State College on Saturday in Sanford.  Peres dominated in game one for nine innings and Maxey also went the extra mile, pitching eight innings in game two.  Santa Fe has pitched nine shutouts in their last 13 games and allowed only 10 runs over that same stretch.

Rachel Hoeft snapped a scoreless tie in the top of the ninth of game one with her first home run of the season to give SF a 1-0 lead.  It was all the run support Peres would need as she shut down the Raiders in the bottom half of the ninth to improve to 9-4.

In game two, the two teams played to a scoreless tie again through seven innings.  In the first extra frame Megan McDonald came through with a RBI double to score Hoeft and Celeste Bradshaw added an insurance solo homerun for the 2-0 lead.

Maxey continued where she left off through the first seven innings and blanked Seminole to move to 8-4 on the season.

Santa Fe improves to 28-19 overall and 15-5 in the Mid-Florida Conference, maintaining their grasp on first place over the College of Central Florida.

The first place Saints will travel to Leesburg on Tuesday, April 15 for a double header against conference foe Lake Sumter State College at 2:30 PM.  The next home double header for Santa Fe is Thursday, April 17 at 2:30 PM against Daytona State College.
