Gainesville, FL – Maddy Peres was masterful in game one of a Mid-Florida Conference double header on Tuesday afternoon against Seminole State College, holding the Raiders to just three hits in a 2-1 SF victory.
SF (18-16, 7-3 MFC) scored two runs in the second on back to back RBI hits by Yanira Sanchez and Celeste Bradshaw, giving Peres (7-6) all the support she would need.
The Raiders made things interesting in the seventh with a leadoff solo homerun, but Peres forced three groundouts to pick up the win.
Bradshaw finished 1-for-3with a double and a RBI, and Sanchez was 1-for-2 with a RBI.
In game two, Seminole jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks in part to two costly SF errors that resulted in three of the four runs. Amber Maxey got Santa Fe on the board in the bottom of the sixth with a solo homerun and two batters later Erin Marsh hit a deep homerun to left to pull the Saints within one.
The Raiders answered with a homer in the seventh and shut down the SF bats in the bottom half of the inning to earn a split.
Maxey finished 1-for-2 with a homerun, and Marsh was 1-for-2 with a homerun and two RBI.
The Saints will host Miami University (Ohio) on Wednesday, March 26 at home in a single game at 2:30 PM.
