Bradenton, FL – Santa Fe College freshman pitcher Maddy Peres helped the Saints bounce back in the second half of a double header against State College of Florida, pitching a five inning no hitter as SF mercy ruled the Manatees 9-0 in five innings. The lone SCF runner reached on an error and was doubled off during the next at bat. Peres faced the minimum 15 batters in her five innings of work.
The FCSAA #10 Manatees (10-8) handled the Saints (6-12) in game one, winning 8-2. Sid Masso and the Santa Fe offense exploded in game two, scoring nine unanswered runs. Masso paced the effort with a two run homer, and Perez took it from there, mowing down the SCF batters in route to her first collegiate no hitter.
The Saints will look to carry the momentum from their big game two victory into their double header matchup on Tuesday, March 4 at Palm Beach State College. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
Santa Fe returns home on March 6 against Grand Rapids CC in a double header starting at 2:00 PM.
