Daytona State Picks Up Big MFC Win Over SF, 71-64

Daytona, FL – The Santa Fe Saints dropped their second straight Mid-Florida Conference game on Wednesday evening against Daytona State College, falling to the Falcons 71-64.  The loss drops SF to 16-6 overall and 1-2 in the MFC.  Daytona now takes over sole possession of second place in the MFC with a 2-1 record.  They are 19-4 overall.

The Saints battled back and forth with the Falcons in the first half and went to the locker room ahead 30-29.

Daytona established themselves inside in the second half and eventually built a double digit lead.  Santa Fe did their best to get back in the game, but could never get it closer than six.

The Falcons outrebounded SF 48-37 and forced 15 turnovers.

Jon Hood led Santa Fe with 21 points, Salim Gloyd had 13, and Reggie Hart scored 10.

The Saints return home on Saturday, February 1 to battle the College of Central Florida at 4:00 PM.  SF will look to even the season series after dropping the first of three matchups with the Patriots on January 25, 62-55.  The game can be watched live on www.ihigh.com/santafesaints
