SF ATHLETICS

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints took on a tough Chet Lemon's Juice travel ball team on Sunday, September 22, splitting the two game set.  Defense was the Achilles heel for the Saints in game one as they committed three errors in route to a 5-3 loss.  Lead-off hitter and 2013 Mid-Florida Conference Player of the Year Casey Scoggins was 3-for-5 with a triple and Mike Castilla was 2-for-2 with two RBI to lead SF offensively.

Santa Fe pulled out a 4-3 victory in a rain shortened game two.

Kevin Martin pitched 2.1 shutout innings, racking up five strikeouts on the day and Derek Vail tossed three hitless innings, fanning six.

Next up for the Saints is a double header on Saturday, September 28 at home against the Florida Burn at 12 noon.
