SF FASTPITCH

Gainesville, FL – The defending Mid-Florida Conference and NJCAA Atlantic District champion Santa Fe Saints will take the field for the first time since playing in the National Tournament in Utah last May when they host the Jacksonville Bandits at 9:30 AM on Saturday, September 14 at SF Field.

The Saints return 13 players from last year's championship team.  First Team Mid-Florida Conference infielder Sid Masso leads the returners along with FCSAA All-Tournament team honoree Rachel Hoeft, also an infielder.  Joining Masso and Hoeft are 1B/C Geena Capitini, OF Celeste Bradshaw, P Ashley Chapman, 2B Erin Marsh, C Yanira Sanchez, P Alysia Camelo, C/2B Alexis Camelo, OF/P Megan McDonald, OF Rachel Brown, OF Kali Maurer, and P Amber Maxey.

Nine incoming players join the returners as the Saints start the quest for their ninth MFC title in the last 10 years.

"We have nine new faces on the roster and are looking to a couple of them for speed, a couple of arms in the circle, and some power at the plate," said SF Coach Chris Ahern.  "We are looking to the sophomores to provide some leadership, and can already see some leadership emerging in the freshman class."

Santa Fe plays nine dates in the fall including three match-ups against the University of Florida, one against the University of South Florida, and one against the University of North Florida.

"We play a tough fall schedule, including numerous top NCAA teams, to get a good idea of where we are," Ahern said.  "This gives us a clear idea of what we need to work on so we can get to where we want to be."
