Why all the Red Tape?
August 28, 2013
You might have noticed red or yellow tape encircling the trunks of some of our beautiful oak tress on the Northwest Campus. Don't worry, these trees aren't going anywhere. The tape is simply an indicator of the tree's health or safety status.
Recently, Facilities Services hired a forester to do a survey of all the trees on campus - the most extensive survey of its kind that has ever been done at SF. Each tree generated a report and some were marked with corresponding tape to indicate the possibility of of a safety hazard, such as dead limbs or limbs overhanging a sidewalk. There are no plans to remove any of the trees.
