Three Saints Sign with Upper Division Schools

Gainesville, FL – Three members of the 2012-13 Santa Fe men's and women's basketball teams signed upper division scholarship earlier this week and will begin playing for their new school during the upcoming season.
Taybreanna Couch, a sophomore forward for the women's team, inked her letter of intent with Morehead State University, a NCAA Division I institution in Morehead, KY.
As a sophomore, Couch averaged 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game and was named All-MFC Honorable Mention. Morehead coach Tom Hodges expects Couch to make an immediate contribution.
"When recruiting throughout the year, one of our main areas to address was adding a physical presence to our interior game and someone who specialized in rebounding," Hodges said. "We are excited about Tay. She addresses every need we had and brings such a mature game."
The Eagles of MSU finished 2012-13 with a 9-21 overall record and a 5-11 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Tiara Thompson, a sophomore shooting guard for Coach Chanda Stebbins, signed with Georgia Southwestern State University, a NCAA Division II school in Americus, GA.
Thompson led the Saints in scoring as a sophomore with 15.4 points per game. She also pulled down 5.7 rebounds per game and had 47 steals.
The Hurricanes of GSW struggled in 2012-13, finishing with a 3-23 record overall and a 1-18 record in the Peach Belt Conference under fifth year Coach Kelly Britsky.
Andrea Robinson, a freshman forward for the men's basketball team, signed his LOI with Thomas University, a NAIA institution in Thomasville, GA. The Night Hawks will play their first season of intercollegiate basketball this upcoming season since the program was temporarily removed in 2000-01. Thomas is coached by former Santa Fe assistant Stephen Cox.
"Andrea will be our only sophomore next year on what will obviously be a very young team," said Cox. "We are excited to bring in a player with his experience, size and strength. Throughout the recruiting process it became clear that he is a high character individual and someone we want with us to help build our program."
Robinson averaged 4.2 points and 6.0 rebounds in 19 minutes per game as a freshman.
