Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints and Daytona State Falcons combined for 16 runs and 29 hits on Friday afternoon in Gainesville with DSC coming out on top of the offensive slug fest 9-7.  The loss drops Santa Fe to 25-17 overall and 10-11 in Mid-Florida Conference play.

Santa Fe scored one in the bottom of the third to jump to an early lead and added five runs in the fourth for a 6-1 advantage.  Daytona immediately answered, plating five runs of their own to knot the score at 6-6.

In the bottom of the fifth the Saints scored a run to retake the lead but for the third time the Falcons bounced right back, pushing a run across in the sixth to make it a 7-7 game.

DSC scored a run in the seventh and another insurance run in the eighth to take a 9-7 lead.  The Falcon bullpen clamped down in the late innings to secure the victory.

Evan Leyva finished 2-for-4 for Santa Fe with a RBI, Blake Berger was 2-for-5 and Jonathan Camp finished 2-for-4.

The Saints travel to Florida State College-Jacksonville on Monday, April 22 for a MFC contest at 3:00 PM.
