St. John's River Rallies for Second Straight Victory Over Santa Fe, 4-3

Gainesville, FL – For the second time in three days, Santa Fe College took a two run lead over St. John's River but couldn't hold on as the Vikings rallied for a one run victory.  The loss drops SF to 23-12 overall and 8-6 in the Mid-Florida Conference, three games behind first place SJRSC.

JT Simpson started on the hill and took the loss for Santa Fe, tossing 4.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits with two strikeouts.  Josh Larson finished the game for SF, pitching 4.2 scoreless innings.

St. John's took an early 1-0 lead in the second but the Saints answered in the bottom half of the third, scoring on a wild throw by the short stop to tie the score 1-1.

In the bottom of the fourth, Andrew Fears and Blake Berger knocked in runs to give SFC a 3-1 advantage.  The lead was short lived as the Vikings scored three in the top of the fifth to take the lead, one they would not relinquish.

Connor Castellano had hits in his first two at bats and finished 2-for-4 with a run scored, Casey Scoggins was 2-for-4 and Blake Berger finished 1-for-3 with two RBI.

The Saints and Vikings finish their three game series on Saturday, April 6 in Palatka at 1:00 PM.
