Barrow and the Saints Defeat FSC-J 8-5, Win Sixth Straight

Gainesville, FL – Dylan Barrow (3-0) tossed 7.2 strong innings and the Santa Fe offense provided eight runs of support in an 8-5 win over Florida State College-Jacksonville for the Saints fifth MFC win in a row and sixth overall. The victory moves SF to 21-10 overall and 6-4 in conference play.
Colby Lusignan again paced the offense, going 3-for-5 with two RBI. Over his last eight games he has 20 hits and 18 RBI. Jonathan Camp improved his hitting streak to 11 games, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and Jarred Mederos pushed his hitting streak to 14 with a 1-for-4 for performance. Jamal Martin also finished with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
The Saints struck early, scoring three in the first on a passed ball and a two out, two RBI single by Jamal Martin. SF added runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh to extend their lead to 6-2. FSC-J made it a game in the eighth when Ryan Sebra belted a three run homer off Santa Fe reliever Josh Larson to cut the lead to 6-5.
SF answered in the bottom of the eighth with two runs on a two RBI single by Lusignan. Derek Vail closed out the game with a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save, his second of the year.
The Saints racked up 10 hits and stole two bases. The pitching staff struck out seven batters and walked just one.
Santa Fe and FSC-J continue their series tomorrow with game two of three in Jacksonville at 1:00 PM. The final game of the three game series takes place in Gainesville
