New Works Will Round out This Diverse Dance Gala
March 27, 2013
Dance Theatre of Santa Fe presents its largest dance production of the year, "Elements of Style 2013," which represents the quality and integrity of the dance program through the talents of the faculty along with their students and guest choreographers and artists.
This year's performance features guest artists Douglas Gillespie, of the Kate Weare Company, and Heather Seagraves. Gillespie, a former SF student, and Seagraves collaborated to create a piece for DTSF titled "Interchange," which represented the college at the Southeast American College Dance Festival in Tampa and received rewarding acclaim from the judges.
DTSF will also perform Antolino Alvarez's "Beast," which was greatly received in the Florida Dance Festival showcase. New works by dance faculty members Tari Kendall, Alora Haynes, Sarah Harkness-Sebastian, Melissa Canto and Jessica Mayhew will round out this diverse dance gala.
With over 50 dancers in this production, the faculty is extremely proud of their graduating students heading to several prestigious universities and dance programs, including Florida State University, University of South Florida, University of Florida and Elon University.
The dance program at SF has earned a strong national reputation for conservatory-style training grounded in the liberal arts and sciences. The program offers a rigorous curriculum led by a vibrant faculty that combines years of international and national professional experience with a passion for teaching. "Elements of Style 2013" exemplifies the passion and devotion that the faculty and students have for their performing art.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13 in the SF Fine Arts Hall.
Tickets are $15 for orchestra seating or $12 for balcony seating. All tickets are $9 for seniors, children 12 and under and UF students with valid ID. SF students, faculty and staff are free with valid ID. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Santa Fe box office, 352-395-4181.
