Daytona, FL – Kevin Martin, Derek Vail, and Josh Larson combined to hold the Daytona State Falcons to just three hits and the Santa Fe offense continued to swing hot bats in route to an 11-4 Mid-Florida Conference win on Wednesday afternoon on Daytona. Martin picked up the win, moving him to 6-0 with a 1.20 ERA.
Colby Lusignan led the way on the offensive side, finishing 3-for-5 with three RBI. He now has a hit in seven straight games and is 17-for-31 (.548 BA) during that stretch with 16 RBI.
The Saints (20-11, 5-4 MFC) struck first, scoring two runs in the first on a groundout by Caleb Denmark and a single by Jonathan Camp. Daytona tied the score in the bottom of the inning but SF answered with a run in the second on a Josh Stewart homerun and two more in the third on a Denmark homerun and a single by Andrew Fears to make the score 5-2.
Daytona plated a run in the third to get back within two but once again the Saints had the answer, putting up three in the fourth on RBI by Connor Castellano, Jarred Mederos and Lusignan.
Santa Fe added insurance runs in the eighth on a Lusignan two RBI single and the ninth on a Stewart sac fly.
Mederos extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a 2-for-4 performance and Camp pushed his to 10 games going 2-for-5 with two RBI.
