SF FASTPITCH

Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe College's Karla Claudio is this week's NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Softball Pitcher of the Week. Claudio, a sophomore from Adianez, Puerto Rico, was 2-1 with two saves and a 0.00 ERA in five appearances during the voting period.

In 23 total innings, Claudio was near-flawless – she allowed only one run (unearned), three hits and no walks while striking out 31. In a doubleheader against Florida State College on March 12, she picked up the game one win then, after inheriting the tying run at third with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh, retired three straight batters to earn the save in the nightcap.

Two days later, she no-hit St. Johns River State, striking out 11 in the five-inning victory. Her final outings of the week came against Seminole State on March 16. She was the tough-luck loser in game one, despite tossing an 11-inning complete game in which she allowed only one hit and struck out 15. In game two, she inherited the tying runs at second and third with nobody out in the seventh and promptly retired the next three batters in order to record the save.
