Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints put up 19 runs in a two inning stretch Monday afternoon against Daytona State to run away with a Mid-Florida Conference victory over the Falcons 21-5.  The win moves SF to 18-10 overall and 4-4 in MFC play.

The Saints opened the scoring in the first with one run and then piled on eight in the third on three hits and six Daytona errors.  The Falcons nearly cut the lead in half in the top of the fourth, scoring four runs on five hits and a key Santa Fe error to make it 9-4.

Santa Fe put the game away in the bottom of the fourth with their biggest inning of the year, plating 11 on seven hits, paced by a three RBI triple from Andrew Fears and a two RBI double by Colby Lusignan.  They put one more on the board in the fifth and Daytona scored one in the seventh but it wasn't enough to prevent the mercy rule.

JT Simpson started on the hill and tossed five innings, allowing four runs, just one of them earned.  Clayton Wagner and Jose Batatino each pitched an inning of relief.

Andrew Fears finished the game 3-for-5 with a triple, three runs scored, and three RBI, Jonathan Camp was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBI, Colby Lusignan was 2-for-4 with three runs scored, a double and three RBI and Jamal Martin was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The Saints next game is Wednesday, March 20 on the road against Daytona State College at 3:00 PM.
