Lake Sumter Defeats Santa Fe in Extra Innings, 4-3

Leesburg, FL – Lake Sumter continued their hot start to the MFC season, taking an extra inning game from Santa Fe 4-3. The Saints outhit the Lakehawks 10-7 but left 15 runners on base. The win is the second in a row for LSSC over SF. The two teams will finish their three game series on Friday in Gainesville.
Santa Fe (15-10, 1-4 MFC) nearly lost the game in regulation, but mounted a two run ninth inning rally to tie the score at 3-3 to send it to extras frames. Jonathan Camp came up with the game tying hit, nailing a two out single to plate the equalizer.
Neither team could get much going in extra innings until the twelfth when Lake Sumter (18-8, 5-0 MFC) broke through for a two out walk off run on a bloop single.
Josh Larson started on the hill for SF and pitched 7.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits. Derek Vail pitched 3.0 scoreless innings and Luke Helms tossed 0.2. Josh Stewart took the loss, allowing one run in 0.2 innings of work.
Jarred Mederos led the offense going 4-for-6, Colby Lusignan was 2-for-5 with a RBI and Jonathan Camp was 2-for-6 with a RBI.
