SF BASEBALL - 3/8/2013

Gainesville, FL – Kevin Martin was flawless Friday afternoon, tossing 8.2 scoreless innings in a 6-0 Santa Fe victory.  The win moves SF to 15-7 overall, 1-1 in Mid-Florida Conference play and ended Seminole State's 11 game winning streak.

Caleb Denmark provided the offense for the Saints knocking in five runs on 3-for-4 hitting, including a three run homerun.  He plated the first run in the first on a single, another in the second, knocked in another in the fourth in a non-RBI situation when the run scored on a double play.

In the eighth Denmark put an exclamation point on game with a three run blast.

The Santa Fe defense backed up Martin with five double plays and Derek Vail finished off the final out to secure the win.

The Saints pounded out 12 hits and Casey Scoggins and Colby Lusignan had two apiece.

"Our guys played a pretty complete game today," said SF Coach Johnny Wiggs.  "Martin was very good, out hitters took good swings, the defense was great and  Denmark really stepped up."

Santa Fe and Seminole will play the rubber game of their three game series at home on Saturday, March 9 at 1:00 PM.
