Saints Come Up Just Short Against Gulf Coast, 73-62 (FCSAA Tournament)

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints fought hard on Wednesday afternoon against the state's #2 ranked team, but came up just short in their upset bid.  Monique Bunk did all that she could, pouring in a season high 32 points on 13-of-28 shooting, including four three pointers.

Gulf Coast controlled the early parts of the game and took a 40-30 lead into the half time break.  Santa Fe refused to give in and came out roaring in the second period, outscoring the Commodores 13-2 to take a 43-42 lead.

The Saints hung around until the final few minutes of the game when GC pulled away by making free throws.

The loss ends the season for Santa Fe who finished with a record of 17-14.  Gulf Coast continues in the tournament and will play in the final four on Friday.  The overall winner advances to Salina, Kansas for the NJCAA National Tournament.

Bunk finished with a game high 32, Paulina Zaveckaite had seven points and 18 rebounds, giving her 503 on the season.  Taybreanna Couch finished with nine points and Tiara Thompson had seven.
