Tallahassee, FL – The Tallahassee CC Eagles used a big sixth inning to pull away from Santa Fe Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Saints 11-4.  The loss drops SF to 11-6 on the season and improves TCC to 14-3.

JT Simpson started on the mound for Santa Fe and lasted just 1.1 innings, allowing three runs.  Derek Vail, Luke Helms and Jose Batatino pitched in relief.  The SF pitchers surrendered eight walks and struck out just four.  The Santa Fe defense didn't do them any favors, committing five errors.

The Saints took an early 2-0 lead after a strong first inning, but gave it back in the second when TCC put three on the board.  Santa Fe tied the game in the third and the Eagles answered once again with one in the bottom half of the inning to go up 4-3.  Jarred Mederos tied the game again for the Saints with a sacrifice fly in the fourth, knotting it up at 4-4.

Tallahassee scored one in the bottom of the fourth to retake the lead and busted open the game in the sixth with five runs on just two hits.  They added an insurance run in the eighth to close out the 11-4 win.

Santa Fe outfielder Casey Scoggins finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored and shortstop Jarred Mederos was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

The Saints next game is at home on Friday, March 1 against East Georgia State College at 3:00 PM.
