Save the date for an Earth Day celebration of words, water and a very special award. "Of Thirst, Beauty and Vision: Writing to Save Our Waters" is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, April 22 at the Building E auditorium. Hear from four Gainesville authors who write about water and have won Florida Book Awards - Cynthia Barnett ("Mirage: Florida and the Vanishing Water of the Eastern U.S."), Jack E. Davis ("An Everglades Providence: Marjory Stoneman Douglas and the American Environmental Century"), Lola Haskins ("Still, the Mountain") and Margaret Ross Tolbert (AQUIFERious").

Ron Cunningham will be presented with The Vision Award of Florida's Eden in recognition of his many years of support for Florida's waters. Cunningham is a retired editorial page editor for The Gainesville Sun and now works as the executive director of BikeFlorida.
