Mederos Leads Saints Past the University of Tampa JV

Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe shortstop Jarred Mederos had a career day Monday afternoon against the University of Tampa JV, going 4-for-5 with a homerun, a double, three runs scored and three RBI to lead the Saints (11-5) to an 11-9 win.

Derek Vail picked up the second win of his college career with 1.1 perfect innings of relief.

The SF offense did all their damage during a three innings stretch, scoring five in the second, two in the third, and four in the fifth.

Josh Stewart pitched a perfect ninth inning for the save.

Colby Lusignan and Casey Scoggins finished the game with two hits apiece.

The Saints next game is Friday, March 1 against East Georgia State at 3:00 PM.  On Saturday, March 2 SF continues their series against East Georgia with a double header scheduled for 12:30 PM.  Earlier in the day the Santa Fe Athletics department will induct five former athletes and coaches and one team into the Hall of Fame.  The ceremony begins at 11:00 AM.
