Hillsborough Rallies in the Ninth for a 3-1 Victory over SF Baseball

Gainesville, FL – Josh Larson tossed 6.2 innings of scoreless ball in relief of starter Dylan Barrow on Monday afternoon and took a 1-0 lead into the top of the ninth, but a furious rally by Hillsborough CC handed the Saints their second straight loss.
"Larson was outstanding for more than six innings for us today," said SF Coach Johnny Wiggs. "He only gave up one hit until the ninth and really kept us in the ball game."
The score was tied heading into the bottom of the seventh when the Saints Blake Berger came through with a RBI groundout for the first run of the game and a 1-0 SF lead. Larson continued to shut down the Hawks and Santa Fe took a 1-0 lead into the ninth.
Larson started the inning and surrendered two straight hits before giving way to closer Caleb Denmark. The Hawks sacrificed the runners to second and third and the ensuing batter lined a single up the middle to plate two. HCC added an insurance run later in the inning on a RBI triple.
The Saints put two runners on in the ninth but failed to cash in any runs.
University of Florida signee Dylan Barrow made his first start of the season and lasted just 1.2 innings, surrendering a hit and three walks.
"We were glad to see Barrow get back on the mound and take a small step in the right direction," said Wiggs. "It obviously wasn't the result he was hoping for, but right now just getting him back out there healthy is a good thing and something to build off of."
While the Saints pitching has been sharp as of late the offense has produced just one run in the last 16 innings.
"We aren't very confident at the plate right now," said Wiggs. "This is something that happens sometimes and something we will have to work through."
Casey Scoggins had three of the Saints five hits, going 3-for-4 and is now hitting .456 on the season. Colby Lusignan and Jonathan Camp had Santa Fe's other two hits.
The Saints next game is on the road Friday against Tallahassee CC at 3:00 PM.
