African American and Dalit Literature Lecture Feb. 19

Dr. Baliram Gaikwad, the Fulbright Doctoral Fellow at the University of Florida and chair of the English department at N. G. Acharya & D. K. Marathe College in Mumbai, will be giving a lecture that explores the voices of the oppressed through literature. He will analyze the personal, literary and historical linkages between African Americans and the Dalit, or "untouchable" caste, in India.

The "African American and Dalit Literature: Transnational Connections in Protest Literature"  lecture will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 in R-01.
