SF MEN'S BASKETBALL

Tampa, FL – Bobby Hunter scored 30 points and Chad Milliken had 26 on Wednesday night for the Santa Fe Saints as they flew past the Hawks of Hillsborough CC 95-82 to improve to 10-8.  Santa Fe shot 60% from the field, 18-for-21 from the free throw line and made 11 threes in the double digit win.

"This was a good win on the road against a solid Hillsborough team," said SF Coach Chris Mowry.  "We did a lot of nice things tonight and our guys were taking good shots and knocking them down."

SF led right from the outset and built the margin to as many as 16 in the first half.  Hillsborough narrowed the lead over the final few minutes of the period and trailed 49-39 at the break.

The Saints pushed the lead back out to 17 in the second half but the Hawks once again chipped away, this time taking it down to six with 8:30 left in the game.  Santa Fe answered and took back their double digit advantage, one they would not relinquish the rest of the way.

"We didn't take care of the ball as well in the second half as we need to," said Mowry.  "We were fortunate that we played as well as we did offensively because we were a little careless with the ball at times."

Hunter not only shot the ball well but also distributed it to his teammates, finishing with 10 assists to go along with his 30 points.  Milliken made eight three pointers and two free throws to account for his 26, Roody Saint-Germain had 11 points and Takija Knight scored 10 and pulled down five rebounds.  Jernell Hughes led Hillsborough with 30 points.

The Saints return home on Saturday to face Tampa Bay International Academy at 4:00 PM.
