SAINTS WEEKLY WRAP-UP: DECEMBER 31 - JANUARY 6
Gainesville, FL – Recap of the week in sports at Santa Fe College:
Men's Basketball (2-0 on the week, 9-8 overall) Bobby Hunter was nearly unstoppable on January 3 against Georgia Highlands College, scoring 33 points in the Saints 100-74 victory, 25 coming in the first half. Hunter is now averaging 23.5 points per game, third best in the country.
On Saturday, the Saints traveled to St. Petersburg College and for the second time this season the Santa Fe Saints pulled out a victory over the Titans, this time on the road. Bobby Hunter led a strong effort, accounting to 26 points, five assists and six rebounds in the 71-61 SF win. Roody Saint-Germain scored a career high 19.
The Saints continue on the road Wednesday, January 9 when they make the trek to Tampa for a game against Hillsborough CC at 7:00 PM. They return home on Saturday for a game against Tampa Bay International Academy at 4:00 PM.
Women's Basketball (0-1 on the week, 12-7 overall) Florida State College – Jacksonville guard Sharmayne Edwards was unstoppable Saturday afternoon in the Mid-Florida Conference opener for both the Blue Wave (12-6, 1-0 MFC) and the Santa Fe Saints (12-7, 0-1 MFC), pouring in 43 points to lead FSC-J to a 90-81 victory.
The Saints host Daytona State College on Wednesday, January 9 at 7:30 PM. Buchholz High School and Santa Fe High School varsity basketball precede the game at 5:30 PM and the JV squads for both high schools matchup at 4:00 PM.
