HUNTER'S 33 LEADS SAINTS PAST GEORGIA HIGHLAND 100-74

Gainesville, FL – Bobby Hunter was nearly unstoppable on Thursday night against Georgia Highlands College, scoring 33 points in the Saints 100-74 victory, 25 coming in the first half.  Hunter is now averaging 23.5 points per game, third best in the country.

"Bobby played a great game and had a super first half," said SF Coach Chris Mowry.  "He attacked the rim and finished and knocked down open looks when they gave him space."

The first 20 minutes was a flurry of scoring with both teams knocking down seven three pointers.  Santa Fe slowly pulled ahead and closed the half scoring 10 of the last 12 points to take a 50-39 lead into the break.

Hunter wasn't the only one scoring as four other Saints joined him in double figures.  Chad Milliken scored 12, all on three pointers, Deonte Morre had 12 and Jordan Banks had 11.  Roody St. Germain had one of his best games of the season, scoring 14 points, including 60-of-6 at the free throw line.

Santa Fe steadily built their lead in the second half and free throws by Hunter and Bruno Bogut made the lead 87-67 with 7:33 to go.  The Saints closed the game on a 13-7 run and evened their record on the season at 8-8 with the win.  The loss dropped the Chargers to 0-12.

"This was a good win coming off a 13 day layoff," said Mowry.  "We were naturally a little rusty.  We didn't close out at the three point line in the first half but made some adjustments and held them to just 1-of-9 from the arc in the second half.  That was a big key to us pulling away."

The Saints dominated the glass, outrebounding GHC 46-29 overall and allowed only six offensive rebounds.  Takija Knight led both teams with 12 boards.

"We did a great job on the defensive glass tonight," said Mowry.  "We didn't give them a lot of second chance opportunities."

The Saints next game is Saturday, January 5 on the road at St. Petersburg College at 4:00 PM
