Saints Drop Opening Game of Florida College Shootout to Palm Beach 73-57

December 8, 2012

SF BASKETBALL – 12/8/2012

Gainesville, FL – Palm Beach State College star forward Jonathan Holton was too much for the Santa Fe (5-6) on Saturday afternoon as he poured in 24 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in the Panthers 73-57 win over the Saints at the Florida College Shootout.

SF hung around with the #7 ranked team in the country and even led 38-35 with 14 minutes to go in the game. Down the stretch Palm Beach's height took over and the undersized Saints struggled to stop the Panthers inside. PBSC (13-0) outscored Santa Fe 38-19 over the final 13 minutes to secure their state leading thirteenth victory in a row.

Bobby Hunter led the way for the Saints, scoring 20 points. Joining him in double figures were Deonte Moore with 13 points and Roody St. Germain with 10. Takija Knight added four points and eight rebounds.

Santa Fe continues in the Florida College Shootout on Sunday at 1:00 PM against Pensacola State College. The Pirates narrowly defeated St. Petersburg College in the third game of the day 68-64 to move to 11-2.
