Men's Basketball Loses Shootout to SCF, 107-97
November 26, 2012
SF MEN'S BASKETBALL – 11/24/2012
Bradenton, FL – Bobby Hunter scored 26 points for Santa Fe on Saturday afternoon against State College of Florida, but the SCF offense was just too much in the second period as the Manatees nailed 11 three pointers over the final 20 minutes to pull away for the 107-97 win.
The Saints (4-2) trailed by just one at half, 41-40, after limiting the high powered State College of Florida (6-1) offense.
"We did a solid job in the first half and played the way we needed too," said SF Coach Chris Mowry. "We handled their press and trap defense and executed on offense."
The second half was a different story as SCF forced the Saints into mistakes and capitalized with easy baskets. The Manatees outscored Santa Fe 66-57 in the second period.
"We turned it over way too much in the second half," said Mowry. "We gave them too many easy chances, but they also hit 11 threes so we have to give them credit where its due. We will have to take care of the ball better over the course of the season if we want to win consistently."
Hunter led SF with 26 points including 11-of-15 from the free throw line. Deonte Moore had 18 points with four three pointers, Chad Milliken scored 12, all on three point baskets and Jordan Banks finished with 11.
The Saints return home on Monday, November 26 when they host Hillsborough CC at 7:00 PM
