SF WOMEN'S BASKETBALL – 11/16/2012

Ocala, FL – Sophomore guard Tiara Thompson led a strong Santa Fe effort Friday night in the Central Florida Shootout, pacing the Saints with 19 points and five rebounds in the 97-66 victory over Brevard College. The win is the second in as many weeks for SF over the Titans. Santa Fe (4-3) defeated Brevard 88-83 in Melbourne on November 6.

The Saints led by just one at halftime, 43-42, but turned up the pressure in the second half, holding the Titans to just 22 points. Santa Fe pulled away down the stretch for the 31 point win.

"We did a great job defensively in the second half and used that to spark our offense," said SF coach Chanda Stebbins. "This was a great all around team effort and the effort and intensity was there all game."

Six Saints scored in double figures led by Thompson's 19. Shaquita Snow added 14 points and five rebounds, Paulina Zaveckaite scored 12 and pulled down nine boards, Shanice Clark had 12 points and seven rebounds, Lonna Turner finished with 10 points and nine rebounds and Jaquasha Sesler had 10 points and three steals.

Santa Fe continues in the Central Florida Shootout on Saturday, November 17 against Tallahassee CC at 4:00 PM.
