Baseball and Fastpitch Wrap up Fall Ball, Look Towards Regular Season
November 14, 2012
SF ATHLETICS – 11/14/2012
Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe College baseball and softball teams wrapped up successful Fall Ball campaigns last week and will now look towards January and the regular season.
Baseball finished undefeated, capping a 16-0 record with an 18-3 win over rivals St. John's River State College. SF took all three contests against the Vikings in the fall.
Saints baseball opens their regular season on Friday, January 25 in Tampa against Hillsborough CC at 3:00 PM. The home opener is Saturday, January 26 when South Georgia College comes to Gainesville for a double header scheduled to start at 12 noon.
The fastpitch team played an exceptionally challenging fall and made vast improvements as the season progressed. SF finished the scrimmage schedule with a double header against the Gators. Despite taking two losses, the positives, including a two run Karla Claudio homerun, far outweighed the negatives. The
Saints also played the University of South Florida, the University of North Florida and Thomas University.
The challenging schedule has prepared Santa Fe for the regular season that will open up on January 26 at the JUCO Kickoff Classic in Clearwater. The schedule is still to be determined. They open at home on Saturday, February 2 with a double header against the State College of Florida at 1:00 PM.
