Santa Fe College Police Join Forces for "Click It or Ticket"
November 13, 2012
Through Nov. 25 , Santa Fe College Police will join with other local law enforcement agencies in the Click It or Ticket campaign aimed at targeting unrestrained motorists and their passengers and other hazardous traffic violations. The campaign is a law enforcement initiative to increase safety belt usage, raise awareness and save lives. Please remember to buckle up. SF College Police will be focusing also on hazardous violations such as speeding, stop sign violations, and failure to yield right of ways to pedestrians.
Florida law requires all drivers and adult occupants in the front seat of a vehicle to fasten their safety belt. Occupants under the age of 18, regardless of where they sit in a vehicle, also must buckle up. Safety belts have long been proven to save lives and reduce injuries when worn properly during a vehicle crash.
Motorists cited for failure to buckle up face a non-moving violation. For front-seat safety belt violations, operators or passengers can be cited with a $104 ticket, while overlooking child safety belt laws can earn a driver a $154 ticket. Please drive safe and be part of a Safe Santa Fe.
