Saints Fall to NJCAA #1 Northwest Florida 75-67

Marianna, FL – Tiara Thompson and the Santa Fe Saints gave a valiant effort on Saturday afternoon against the #1 team in the nation, falling late to Northwest Florida State College 75-67. The game was the third in three days for FCSAA #6 SF (2-3) at the Girls Basketball Report Classic and third straight against an FCSAA top five team. Santa Fe was without starting point guard Monique Bunk.

Thompson led the way for the Saints, netting 27 points with 10 rebounds, her second double double of the tournament.

Santa Fe hung in all game and tied the score at 57-57 with seven minutes to go, but NWF slowly pulled away down the stretch for the eight point win. The difference once again came at the free throw line where the Raiders outscored SF 17-9.

Thompson was the lone Santa Fe player in double figures. Paulina Zaveckaite finished with nine points and 10 rebounds and Taybreanna Couch had five points and 12 rebounds.

The Saints will take few days off before returning to the court on Friday, November 16 in Ocala at the Central Florida Shootout against Brevard College at 4:00 PM and on Saturday against Tallahassee CC at 4:00 PM. SF returns home on Sunday, November 19 against Webber College at 6:00 PM
