Baseball Weekly Wrap-up

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints stayed undefeated in Fall Ball play over the last week, winning four games over three different opponents.

On Sunday, October 14 SF took two from the Orlando Reds, 8-4 and 11-4. In game one the Saints hitters pounded out 15 hits with five going for extra bases. Jamal Martin was 3-for-3 with a triple and two runs, Colby Lusignan finished 3-for-4 with a homerun, a double and two RBI, Jared Shouppe was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs.

In game two the hitters had eight hits and collected four walks and five steals. Andrew fears, Blake Berger and Jonathan Camp had two hits apiece. Jose Batatino, Kevin Martin, Luke Helms and Josh Stewart combined for six scoreless innings after a rough first.

On Wednesday, October 17 the Saints took down rival St. John's River State College 10-8 in a predetermined 12 inning game. Josh Stewart delivered the big blow, clearing the bases with a two out double in the second inning. SF ended with 17 hits including four doubles and two triples. Graham Cason was 3-fpr-3 and Josh Stewart, Jared Shouppe, Jamal Martin and James Lane had two hits each. Santa Fe pitchers struck out 12 and walked only three.

Lafleche College from Quebec, Canada came to town on Sunday, October 21. The Saints pulled out a 4-3 victory behind a strong pitching performance from 10 different pitchers. SF was held to just four hits, but capitalized on three walks and three sacrifices to win the game.

Santa Fe moves to 13-0 on the fall.
