CVT Program Offers Free Cardiac and Carotid Ultrasounds

September 10, 2012

Santa Fe College's Cardiovascular Technology (CVT) Program will offer free cardiac and vascular ultrasound screenings on September 14 and 28, and October 5 and 26 in room WA-113 on Santa Fe College's Northwest campus, 300NW 83 St., Gainesville.

Ultrasounds are important procedures that can help evaluate, diagnose and determine the extent of certain conditions. Cardiac ultrasound involves the imaging of an incredibly complex organ-the heart – and includes cardiac muscles, valves and blood. Vascular ultrasounds provide pictures of the body's veins and arteries, such as the carotid artery.

Ultrasound scanning is fast, easy, and painless. Each ultrasound takes approximately one hour to complete and the tests are available to anyone age 18 or older, by appointment only. To schedule an appointment for a heart and/or carotid artery ultrasound, contact Jennifer Weeks at jennifer.weeks@sfcollege.edu or (352)395-5972.
