SF MEN'S BASKETBALL – 6/28/2012

Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe sophomore guard Marko Djekovic (Belgrade, Serbia) has signed a letter of intent with Palm Beach Atlantic University and will join the team for the 2012-13 season. He will have two years of eligibility.

"We are excited for Marko, he had a great two years at Santa Fe and was a big part of our success," said SF Coach Chris Mowry. "He really wanted to stay in Florida for his last two years of college, so the opportunity to attend PBA is just what he was looking for."

The NCAA Division II Sailfish struggled in 2011-12 under fifth year Head Coach Terry Primm, finishing 4-22. Santa Fe Coach Chris Mowry expects that Djekovic will give PBA a needed boost next season.

"I believe Marko will step in and play major minutes at the point guard position right away," said Mowry. "We are looking forward to following him for the next two years with the Sailfish."

As a sophomore at SF, Djekovic averaged five points per game and a team high 4.1 assists per contest. He led the Saints in free throw percentage, converting on 80% of his tries from the charity stripe and pulled down 2.2 rebounds per game.
