Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe women's basketball player Cassandra Brown has signed a letter of intent with Barton College where she will continue her academic and playing career with two seasons of eligibility remaining.
"I am so proud of Cassandra," said SF coach Chanda Stebbins. "She has overcome so many obstacles and is a true success story. We are lucky to have played a role in helping her on her way."
Brown appeared in 15 games for the Saints after sitting out the first half of the season and led the team in rebounding with seven boards per game and chipped in 4.5 points per contest.
"Cassandra has been one of our hardest workers on the floor and in the classroom," said Stebbins. "I am proud to have coached a young lady like her and am so happy that she has found the right fit in Barton as she will continue to play basketball and pursue a bachelor's in education at a great school."
She joins a Barton College team that is one of the top women's basketball programs at the NCAA Division II level. Led by 22 year head coach Wendee Saintsing, the Bulldogs finished the 2011-12 season 21-9 overall and 14-3 in the Carolinas Conference, winning the regular season conference title for the fourth consecutive year.
