Gainesville, FL – Sophomore pitcher Stephanie Cameron recently signed with Shenandoah University, a NCAA Division III institution located in Winchester, VA, Santa Fe coach Chris Ahern announced.
Shenandoah wrapped up their 2012 season with a 24-17 overall record and a 9-9 mark in Conference USA South under the leadership of Head Coach Marlena Kotynski.
As a sophomore at SF, Cameron pitched 28 innings, appearing in 12 games, starting four of them. She finished with a 3.75 ERA and struck out 25 batters.
At the Florida College System Activities Association softball awards banquet, she was honored as the 2012 Jean Williams Award winner. The Jean Williams Award is the highest academic honor bestowed upon a student athlete by the FCSAA.
"We are so excited for Stephanie, who has been a model student, athlete and overall team player," said Ahern. "She leads by example, and never stops working hard. She will be a tremendous asset to the Hornets. Stephanie has been working on a pre-pharmacy track at Santa Fe and will continue on the Pharmacy track at Shenandoah. I have no doubt she will succeed at anything she puts her mind to. It has been a pleasure to have her as a Saint these past two years – we will miss her and wish her much success!"
