Saints' Season Ends at the Hands of Polk State 3-1

Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe starting pitcher JT Simpson and the Saints pitching staff held the Polk State Eagles to just four hits and a .138 average on Saturday afternoon at the FCSAA State Tournament, but two clutch two out RBI hits gave the Eagles enough runs to pull out the victory 3-1.

The Saints (37-13) outhit PSC 9-4 but only came through once with runners in scoring position. Graham Ramos drove in the lone SF run in the second when he singled home Trey Griffin. SF left eight runners on base.

Polk answered in the third when Eric Hindmon singled with two outs to plate two runs. The Eagles added an insurance run in the seventh on a two out RBI single by the Suncost Conference Player of the Year Connor Szczerba.

PSC reliever Trey Norris shut the door on a Santa Fe rally, throwing 2.1 hitless innings to seal the victory. Polk moves on to play the loser of Chipola College and Palm Beach State College.

Ramos finished the game 3-for-4 with a RBI and Caleb Denmark was 2-for-4.

Santa Fe finishes their season tied for the school record in wins with 37 and set a new stolen base record of 109 along with winning their fourth straight Mid-Florida Conference title.
