Booker Delivers Game Winning Homerun to Boost Saints Past FSC-J 5-3 (FSCAA TOURNAMENT)

Pensacola, FL – Freshman third baseman Kim Booker came up with the biggest hit of the tournament for the Santa Fe Saints on Friday evening against Florida State College-Jacksonville, delivering a one out, three run in the seventh inning to put SF ahead 5-3 of their winner's bracket game. The score would hold up and the Saints continue march on in the FCSAA State/NJCAA Region VIII Tournament.
FSC-J struck first, scoring a run in the bottom of the first to take the early lead. Santa Fe's Aileen Fiallo answered in the top of the second, delivering a two out RBI single, plating Alaysia Miller.
In the bottom of the second the Stars scored again to go ahead 2-1. Karla Claudio tied the score in the top of the third with her second homerun of the tournament, a towering shot over the left field fence.
Both teams were scoreless until the bottom of the sixth when FSC-J scored on a passed ball to go ahead 3-2.
Trailing by one in the seventh, Booker took matters in to her own hands, hammering a pitch over the left field fence to give the Saints their first lead of the game.
Erika Garcia shut down the Stars in the seventh to seal the victory.
Alaysia Miller finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Kim Booker was 1-for-4 with a homerun and three RBI.
The Saints battle Seminole State College on Saturday at approximately 2:00 PM CST (3:00 PM EST) in winner's bracket action. The winner advances on to play Sunday for the NJCAA Atlantic District title and a trip to the State Tournament Championship game. The winner of the Atlantic District championship also secures their spot in the NJCAA National Tournament in St. George, Utah.
