Get Your "Grüv" On
April 24, 2012
SF's very own Mike Hutley and his band GrüvTherapy are one of the featured artists in Home magazine this month. Sarah Kinonen's article Grüv Therapy: Gainesville Home To Jazz Band, tells of the band's inception, how they got their name and where they're at today.
Drawn together by the love of music and all things jazz, GrüvTherapy has been serenading the residents of Gainesville with smooth grooves for more than eight years.
It began with a two-person jazz jamming session and slowly grew into a five-member funky, soulful jazz band.
When Mike Hutley, 48, alto and soprano saxophone player, and Mort Nembhard, 47, bass player, met one another during college at the University of Florida, a jazz band was born.
The band will host a CD release party at 7 p.m. Monday, April 30, at Sabore Restaurant. The event is sponsored by Smooth FM 100.9, The Tioga Town Center, and Sabore Restaurant. If you would like to attend, please email Mike Hutley at michael.hutley@sfcollege.edu. To keep up with the band's activities, be sure to "like" GrüvTherapy on facebook.
