Holton Signs with the University of North Florida

Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe sophomore shortstop Ashley Holton has signed a letter of intent with the University of North Florida where she will continue her academic and playing career.

"We are very excited that Ashley will go on to play at UNF," said SF Coach Chris Ahern. "It is a great fit and we are sure she will make an immediate impact in the classroom and on the field. We will miss her being in a Saints uniform, but look forward to following her career there."

As a sophomore, Holton is hitting .306 (49-for-160) with six homeruns, seven doubles, 25 RBI and 27 runs scored. She has six stolen bases and has executed 15 successful sacrifice bunts. Her freshman year, Holton hit .293 (46-for-157) with seven homeruns, 10 doubles, 23 RBI and 29 runs scored.

The University of North Florida is a NCAA Division I school located in Jacksonville, FL. The Ospreys are led by fourth year Head Coach Marcie Hickey and are currently 27-22 overall in 2012 and 7-7 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
